Yoga is so empowering, because it's literally just your mind and your body and being able to do really cool things. No one else can take that credit away from you. You're the person that achieved that.
I joined as a member in 2015. It's just such a supportive environment. And the personal relationships that I've been able to develop with some of the team members there are just so genuine and supportive. And I really cherish those relationships.
So at the time that I met Shaun, I was struggling with some mental health and self-harm issues. And my mental health struggles came with being uncomfortable with my body and struggles with eating disorders. And he really helps me in every aspect. He taught me nutrition. He taught me weightlifting. He taught me just how to love myself. And he's still a really, really important person in my life. Just my experiences at Life Time have definitely opened me up to being more comfortable, letting other people in.
She understands her power now. There's no hat on anymore when Maleah works out. There's no hoodie on. But she's still intentional with her health and taking care of herself. And I love that about her. Because she definitely lives the healthy way of life.
When I first joined Life Time, I wanted to get into weightlifting. And I've been lifting consistently and pretty much exclusively up until I decided to try a yoga class. And it was completely different than anything I expected it to be. I mean, from a physical standpoint, it's really cool to be able to do something like a forearm stand, because, I mean, even a year ago, if you had told me I could do that, I would have laughed at you. I've just never thought I could do these types of things with my body. Yoga is so much about just accepting yourself and focusing on your breath. And for someone that's struggled with something like anxiety, that's been really, really helpful for me.
So someone else that's really important to me is Niki Lemon. The first yoga class I ever took was her fire class, and I really just fell in love with it. Now we have this wonderful relationship that's incredibly supportive. And it's about so much more than yoga, and it's really special to me.
My health is very important to me. I think, for a lot of my life, I was so concerned with, you know, I need to study this to make my parents happier. I need to be working this job or whatever. And, now, I'm just really focused on the things that I'm passionate about and the things that make me feel happy and empowered.
I want to be around for a long time. I want to enjoy this beautiful life and being able to keep doing yoga and working out. And I'm a lot more confident in the decisions that I'm making. I was able to overcome a lot of obstacles that I was dealing with. And I'm at a place in my life where I feel really empowered to be pursuing things that I'm passionate about. And in pursuing those things, I've been able to connect with people that are passionate about the same things and are incredibly supportive.
I got you.
It makes me feel very loved and special and thankful.
