About Me

I train because I love to take people on the journey from being unhealthy and unhappy to being capable and confident. Health and happiness mean something different to everyone and my mission is to get people to where they can say they have both without reservation. Beyond training, I teach exercise science and professional concepts to students seeking to become trainers. I love teaching because I can affect more people's lives this way.

Something had to change. At my 30th high school reunion I was overweight and out of shape, my 50th birthday was fast approaching, and I needed two hands to carry one 20lbs dumbbell down the stairs. I attended a Lifetime workshop and was the second least fit person. Afterward, I met with the head trainer and bought a heart rate monitor, metabolic and heart rate testing, nutrition counseling and personal training. I began working with Devon in Fall 2010 and made amazingly quick progress. Within two months a few people noticed the change, within four months everyone noticed! The combination of nutrition counseling, weight training, and cardio worked wonders. 40 lbs just melted off and by summer 2011 I was in the best shape of my life with increased strength, muscle tone, and overall fitness. With Devon’s nutrition guidance, I changed what and when I eat, more protein, good fats, and limited carbs. The secret was tracking every single bite using a free app, very eye opening! Devon also encouraged me to do cardio and I complied with sessions on the elliptical, neighborhood walks, and Lifetime’s Aqua Aerobics and excellent Indoor Cycling classes, all of which I continue to do. Devon is easy to work with and has a huge repertoire of programs and knowledge to draw upon to meet anyone’s goals. He can readily explain the rationale for each of the exercises and the various phases. One of Devon’s goals is for his clients to remain mobile well into old age so we focus on strength, stability, and endurance. During training sessions, Devon works me hard but the results have kept me coming back twice per week! Scheduled sessions keep me accountable and Devon ensures I complete each and every rep. Devon was able to take someone who could not do one pushup and is now almost a gym rat, well versed in equipment and technique. It feels fantastic and empowering to be so strong! Thank you Devon!
