About Me

I started my career as a Fitness Professional with Life Time after obtaining my NASM Personal Training in 2019. Leading up to that point, I had always had a passion for sports and fitness: in High School I played Hockey, and Fast Pitch. In college I coached 12U Girls Hockey and Middle School Girls Lacrosse, as well as heading up several intermural sports teams. After college I found my love for heavy lifting/Olympic lifting and decided to make a career out of it. During my journey in the fitness world, I was wanting to learn something new and I stumbled into Pilates and I have been practicing Pilates for the last 4 years and teaching it for 3. My favorite thing about my own personal Pilates practice is the mind body connection I’ve gained, as well as improving my strength training because I’m more stable. So I wanted to share this with anyone interested, and have others feel as good as I do, if not, at least feel better than when they left. I also have a beautiful 6 year old daughter!

This year I decided to turn my attention away from Ironman Racing and turn my attention towards Marathon and specifically qualifying for the Boston Marathon (The Superbowl of Marathons). I embarked on a very aggressive training program, One where I was running 6 days a week and up to 62 miles per week and resistance training 4 days a week. As a Personal Trainer myself, I decided to get out of my head and have someone else handle my nutrition coaching. That someone was my friend Jena. My instructions were very specific. I wanted to qualify for the Boston Marathon but I didn't want to look like a runner. Oh yea, I also wanted to loose 10 lbs without sacrificing muscle mass. Jena and I met weekly and tweaked my diet every week. As my miles built my diet changed. When it was all said and done, I lost 9 lbs, and gained 2 lbs of muscle mass. Infact, my end weight was 181.5 with 92 lbs of lean muscle mass (overy 50% of my body weight), and most of all, I qualified for Boston. I can't recommend Jena enough for Nutrition Coaching. Her knowledge and attention to detail are second to none. My next stop is the Florida Ironman as I attempt to qualify for Kona and Jena will once again be in my corner. I can't recommend her enough. I have been working with Jena since late 2019. Having been out of shape for so many years, it was not uncommon for me to come to a workout with random joint and muscle pains. Jena was able to adjust our workouts on the fly to ensure we still got a great workout but did not aggravate issues any further. However starting in July of 2020 with her constant encouragement I finally started to really put an effort into weight loss. Jena is pretty humble and will say that my success was 100% me, but in truth a very large part of it is the constant support she has provided to me. Her coaching style is very much more the cheerleader style than a drill sergeant style, which worked well for me. She will get almost excited as I do about any scale or non-scale improvements, but will also sit down and work through any stumbling points. Lifetime Plymouth has SO many awesome coaches, but to me I think Jena is hard to top for anyone who is struggling with motivation and also with large goals when it comes to weight loss. In the past 6 months I am down 40 pounds, and feel like I am just getting started. I would highly recommend Jena to anyone who is struggling to get started or stay motivated. She will encourage you, support you and help you through times that you struggle.
