I am Kelsey. I absolutely love my job as a personal trainer and nutrition coach! I live and breathe health, fitness, and nutrition. Why am I a personal trainer? I love helping others reap the benefits of a healthier, active life. It's rewarding for me to see my clients gain a new sense of self confidence, and reach new goals that they never thought possible! When I'm not working, I'm working on my own personal goals of being the best version of myself!
Kelsey is an amazing personal trainer. She combines her extensive knowledge of training methodologies, proper form and nutrition with an enthusiastic commitment to her work and her clients. She knows everyone’s body is unique and everyone’s body works just a little different. She helps you learn how to train around your injuries/weaknesses and strengthen muscles that support your weak areas in an effort to avoid pain and overcome your injuries. She pushes you slowly to do more and more and push yourself to new limits. Her friendly motivational deceptively easy going personality will have you working harder than you thought possible. Her top priority is giving you a killer workout, but she also focuses heavily on nutrition. There is no strict diet regimen but instead gives you goals and ideas for substitutions, quick meals ideas, snack suggestions, small changes to encourage you to make healthy eating choices. Kelsey has such an upbeat attitude and is so passionate about any and everything fitness it keeps me motivated. She is always there to give you tools, knowledge and motivation to succeed but it is up to you to use them to their fullest. Without hesitation I would recommend Kelsey to anyone looking for a personal trainer.
Kelsey is inspirational to all of us in her GTX class. Even when we don’t think we can do something she reminds us that we can. She isn’t pushy or mean but inspires us to want to do better. Setting goals and talking about nutrition are extra things that we discuss I didn’t expect. If we have any questions she is happy to answer them. If she doesn’t know the answer she will find out for us. I am never bored and look forward to working out with the group (except in a mask). I have improved over the past 4 months and feel better. She is a gem!
Have been working with Kelsey past 6 months. She has been great in helping to focus on proper movement, strength as well as nutrition. I greatly appreciate her commitment , knowledge and availability. She has been helpful to me personally, working to improve balance and increase my strength.
Feeling Blessed! October 26, 2017 I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and given 3-7 years to live. As one would expect I was devastated as was my husband and daughters. My pulmonary doctor at the time said to keep an exercise schedule that included strength training. I immediately signed up for a trainer and was recommended to Kelsey. Kelsey saw the grieving and started immediately on a strength training program and we took it slowly. After being with Kelsey for 6 months we both agreed it would be a good idea to get a second opinion. Following an appointment and many tests with the Center of Excellence at the UofM for Interstitial Lung Disease, it was determined I had scarring most likely from the chemo Cytoxan for Breast Cancer and would follow me over the months. This was determined in August 2018. So it was recommended that I follow-up in 3 months. With this news Kelsey advised we increase strength training, get on a path of healthy nutrition and incorporate Metabolic training. I have not progressed at all with the disease. In fact, the doctor is recommending I get a breathing test every 6 months as I am very healthy and feel wonderful! My new hobby is training with Kelsey 3-4 times a week plus incorporating the nutrition plan and metabolic cardio training. This has reduced stress and I have a new lease on Life thanks to Kelsey! Feeling Blessed is an understatement as I believe I have experienced a true Miracle! What I have learned is engaging a trainer like Kelsey as part of one's care team. Incorporating all three programs is a must as it has changed my life! Thank you Kelsey for being the best!
I started training with Kelsey November of 2017 after I was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease. Being devastated Kelsey knew that I was grieving. We started working slowly with strength training and it has been the best journey in my life! One year later my ILD is stable. I have not progressed and feel stronger than ever. What was important for me was to find a new hobby to reduce my stress. As a business owner and dealing with ILD my stress was over the top. My new hobby is training with Kelsey 3 to 4 times a week. Kelsey is now my nutritionist and has added zone metabolic training to my program. What I have learned is one needs to incorporate all three levels to enhance their health - strength training - nutrition - and Zone Metabolic Training. All three work together to enhance ones well-being. I have improved so much that my Pulmonary Doctor at the UofM Center of Excellence said to come now every 6 months for breathing tests as I have improved significantly. What a blessing it has been to find Kelsey and add her to my care team and look forward to many years working out with the best Trainer - Kelsey!
Kelsey is the best trainer out there. I started working with her looking for nutrition guidance, I thought eating healthy was all about limitations but she took the time to get to know me and show me how wrong I was. She is great at breaking down the facts and explaining what to do, why it helps, and how to best manage everything. Kelsey has helped me branch out on different types of food I eat, along with great recipes and food substitutes. After following her guidance I started seeing all the results I was striving for, feeling stronger in the gym, more energized during the day, and overall just happier. Lifting weights has always been something that I love and is a big part of my life. I never felt the need for a trainer in the gym but after talking to Kelsey I thought I’d give it a shot. She has pushed me harder and farther than I ever thought possible. Working out with her is the best decision I’ve made in a long time. She takes the time to ask questions, really listen to you, watch your form, and see your strengths and weakness to cater the workout plan to you. The support and confidence Kelsey gives you is unmatched by any other person out there. Her knowledge and love for fitness and nutrition is extraordinary and she loves to help others find their love for it too. I recommend training with Kelsey to everyone I meet, she is a remarkable woman.
The past 2 years I had gained 40 pounds and was feeling very depressed and defeated trying every fad diet that just did not work for me . Diet has been the biggest and hardest change through lab testing found I have many food intolerances. eggs , peanuts , lactose all needed to be eliminated from my diet . Kelsy has been right there with food substitutions and great advise when eating : ALWAYS ASK THESE: WHERE’S MY PROTEIN? WHERE’S MY CARB? WHERE’S MY FAT **5-6 small meals a day; eat every 2-4 hours = helps with metabolism **shoot for ½ bodyweight in ounces for water Kelsey has also been able start working my weaknesses: struggling with my water intake, meal prepping, managing stress and anxiety all if which can affect my wellness as well as what and when to eat. My journey has only just begun and I have a long way to go but I am excited to keep going all the way this time in 2019! While I wanted to lose more weight and body fat during this time I feel proud of that I broke the cycle of the holiday weight gain of past years. I had my ups and downs during the 6 week program the week of Christmas being the worst in that I gave back 2lbs that I had lost. My most positive was not giving up and getting back to the next week . Words cannot express how much I appreciate the efforts of Kelsey Martin, not only as a personal trainer but also now as a friend. When I decided to invest in me and my health, I knew I couldn’t succeed without the help of a trainer to provide me direction on exercise, nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. I met with Kelsey for the first time in September 2017. I chose Kelsey because she was a trainer with a coaching style and I knew I needed someone to provide that coaching mentality to me. Kelsey not only meets the true definition of coach, but she has been my cheerleader every step of my transformation journey and she has been a drill sergeant, pushing me when she knew I could give more. Kelsey customized my weekly strength training to help maximize my results. She helped me get started on metabolic conditioning, which has proven extremely successful. Kelsey encouraged me to join the 60 day challenge over the holidays and with her coaching, I lost weight! Kelsey not only provides me training, but she provides me guidance on healthy eating, nutrition and stress management. She is extremely responsive when I have questions or doubts. When I hit roadblocks, Kelsey asks the questions to understand the root cause and helps me make adjustments to overcome them. Under Kelsey’s guidance, I have lost over 30 pounds and have significantly reduced my body fat, but doing it in a healthy way. I feel amazing! I realize that my determination and dedication pushes me to see results but I couldn’t have done this without Kelsey’s coaching and encouragement. She’s an excellent trainer and working with her has been an incredible experience.
Kelsey - the amazing Kelsey...although words cannot even come close to truly explaining the life-altering advice, support, and knowledge you have provided me...I'm going to try! First and foremost...THANK YOU, Kelsey...thank you for being my rock in the midst of a daunting time in my life. You didn't judge, nor criticize; rather, listened and loved. Because of you, I'm stronger today, both mentally and physically. Because of you, I can look in the mirror and not feel afraid. Because of you, Kelsey, because of your relentless pursuit to ensure my health remained your priority; it has officially become my priority. THANK YOU! Kelli F.
I recently completed the 60 day fitness challenge and could not have done it without Kelsey's training and motivation. I have had two c-sections within two years. I weighed 170lbs when I delivered my second baby. I weighed 143lbs 6 weeks post partum and that is when I started the challenge. I met with Kelsey approximately six times during the challenge. She taught me exercises that were safe for my condition and improved my overall core strength. I am breastfeeding and my daughter developed a dairy allergy, which meant no dairy for me. This is a challenge in itself. Kelsey shared some really good nutritional advice and recipes with me. Not only is she incredibly professional and good at her job, she is very personable and genuinely cares about your success. At the end of my challenge I weighed 124lbs! I highly recommend Kelsey as a personal trainer.
I met Kelsey towards the end of 2014, so I have known her for a little while. I went through a few personal trainers before her who I didn't make much of a connection with. I did what they told me to do for the 30 minute session, went home, ate whatever I wanted, slacked on my exercise when I didn't feel like going, and never thought about it other than those 30 minute sessions once or twice a week. Once I started training with Kelsey, she made the extra effort to get to know me, gave me her phone number, email, Facebook, etc and told me to never hesitate to call if I needed anything. One of the most important things during a big life change such as weight loss is having support. Through Kelsey I have met other like-minded people pursuing similar goals as myself, and that made the process a lot easier and more fun for me. I met people in her group classes who I still keep in touch with and I am a member of her Facebook group, which helps keep me accountable and motivated when I hear other people's success stories, recipe ideas, etc. She's a great trainer not only for the support aspect, but she also has the technical knowledge to back it up. She competes in Figure, which requires extensive knowledge in many aspects of nutrition and exercise. Kelsey was great before, but since I've known her and since she's become involved in Figure she's grown a lot as a trainer. She has also helped me out quite a bit while training for my first half marathon. I trust her with all my questions and concerns. You can tell she truly cares about her clients; both their struggles and successes. I have sent many people her way and never got a negative response, and would recommend her again and again!
I trained with Kelsey for over 3 years - primarily in her small group training sessions. It's truly changed my life for the better. When I started personal training, I could not even imagine doing a push-up or running a mile. Working out was a chore - and a chore I didn't do often. Now, I consistently work out on average 4 days a week and it's just an inherent part of my weekly routine. I am stronger than I can ever remember being - able to lift heavier weights, able to do those pesky push-ups and running on average 8-10 miles/week. I completed a half marathon and am training for my second one - something I would never have thought possible before personal training. Working out not only makes my body feel stronger and more toned, but I can see the emotional and mental impacts as well. Instead of turning to food or wine when I am anxious, I pop on the treadmill and burn off that stress. Kelsey is more than a personal trainer - she's focused on the whole individual, including nutrition, exercise and personal habits. She goes beyond her job to check in with her clients on a daily basis and encourages peer-to-peer support and networking. Kelsey encourages and pushes you to challenge yourself. She's the little voice in my ear when I'm thinking of skipping that workout or cheating on my nutrition. Simply said, she cares and it shows. I wouldn't be where I am without Kelsey.
I worked with Kelsey for 1 full year and she transformed my body! I look back at the year we trained together and it's still the bed shape I have ever been in...mind and body! She held me accountable to my goals and text me with encouragement even when I was training solo! She is extremely driven and enthusiastic about her work and committed to her client's success! I would definitely work with her again!
I met kelsey on stage for my first figure competition! From the stage to the gym floor kelsey has been such a cheerleader to me and has helped me overcome some of the negative self doubts when pursuing difficult transformations. She has supported and encouraged me in many ways on many days and also provided me measurable steps to attaining my transformation to incorporate into the context of my busy family lifestyle.
Kelsey is one of the best she is dedicated to her clients, she is always available to answer questions from her past and current clients. She is knowledgeable on nutrition and on latest personal training trends. I lost 20 lbs as her client and look forward to more weight-loss under her supervision. She is the real deal and she does everything to help you succeed.
I met Kelsey through a mutual friend after I witnessed her incredible weight loss journey. I had been engaged for a year when I met Kelsey and had been in said relationship for 6 years; I had really let myself go and needed a change in weight and how I felt about my body. Not only did I lose 30 lbs before my wedding but I gained knowledge on how to keep the weight off and an exercise program that I can pick up no matter my lifestyle from home or to the gym. Kelsey is very professional as a trainer, but she also really does genuinely care about her clients. I have her cell phone number, email and we are friends on Facebook. She also has a dedicated group on Facebook to where you can keep in contact and she's so willing to answer any of your questions. She always took interest in our personal lives too. She's completely dedicated to overall health, mental, physical and internal. A constant supporter and encourager. She finds your limits so quickly but pushes you to what she knows you can accomplish and modifies things so you can comfortably succeed. You won't find a better human being, coach nor mentor. I wouldn't recommend anyone else and I am so grateful to have had emotional and stable support through my transformation leading up to my wedding. Thanks for making me look and feel BEAUTIFUL, Kels!
Kelsey and I have been friends since middle school. When I heard about her passion for fitness and that she was going to be offering personal training services, I jumped on board immediately. She is extremely educated in not only fitness, but also nutrition, and is always available to answer my questions. Our training sessions have not only helped me lose inches and hold me accountable, but has provided me with time each week to chat and catch up, as Kelsey is always wanting to hear about my day or week. I previously worked out one on one with Kelsey at a different gym, and when she had the opportunity to take this awesome opportunity with LifeTime fitness, I had to follow her because she truly is an amazing personal trainer and someone that I can call a friend! I love working out with Kelsey and would recommend anyone to her - she sure does know her stuff!
