What are the policies for using pools and Beach Club?

Please view our detailed pools and beach club policies.

Is there a minimal age required to lap swim? Can an Aquatics Leader approve children to lap swim alone if they meet safety and swim level standards?

Typically, lap lanes are reserved for ages outlined within posted signs at the lap pool (age can vary by location). For children younger than the outlined age, lap pool usage would depend on lifeguard coverage at that time, and if they can safely and comfortably guard all required areas of the pool at the time of the request.

What flotation devices or toys are allowed in the pools?

Coastguard approved life jackets are allowed in the pools. Additionally, most devices that are not inflatable are also allowed. If you are unsure of a specific device, speak to a lifeguard or member of the aquatics team at your specific club. Inflatable devices are not allowed at the pools.

Can I use a mermaid tail?

Mermaid tails are generally allowed in our pools. However, usage remains at the discretion of the lifeguard on duty to assess safety implications for all members in the pool (in addition to the member using the mermaid tail).

What is the proper attire?

Life Time is a family destination, and we want all families to feel safe and comfortable.

Can I do water walking or exercise in the pools outside of class times?

Pools are available for walking and exercise outside of class times.

What is the pool depth?

Pool depths vary by location. Most pools are a maximum of 4 – 6 feet deep; however, select locations have deeper pools.

Does my pool have Hoyer lift/chair lift?

Life Time pools have ADA accessible lift for all pools.

Does my pool have a zero-depth entry?

Many of our locations have zero-depth entry options in both our indoor and outdoor pools. This pool feature varies by location.

Does my pool have flags in the lap pool?

Both indoor and outdoor lap pools have backstroke flags within the lap pools.

Does my pool have a diving board?

Most locations do not have a diving board. Select locations that meet depth requirements do have diving boards.

Can I bring a guest to the pools?

Members are welcome to bring guests to the indoor pools with the guest privileges provided on their membership. Guest access to the outdoor pool varies by season, location, and the stated outdoor guest policy per summer.

Why do we use chlorine?

All Life Time pools utilize chlorine for sanitation purposes. This is to ensure we are meeting and exceeding health and cleanliness standards across the aquatics industry. This includes locations with saline pools. In all scenarios, we aim to use the smallest amount of chlorine necessary to provide the highest quality safety standards.

Are water slides cleaned?

Water slides are treated and waxed at the beginning of every season. For the remainder of the season, slide maintenance aligns with the protocols throughout all areas of the club, including daily assessments of upkeep and cleanliness.

Are your pools heated year-round? Indoor and outdoor?

Life Time’s indoor pools are heated year-round. Our indoor leisure pool is heated to approximately 89 degrees, while our indoor lap pool is heated to approximately 82 degrees. Outdoor pools are also heated, but temperature ranges are weather-dependent.
